You roll away, sitting up on the side of the bed.
“Just get out of here.”
“What did you say? You don’t tell me what to do.”
You sigh and look straight back at her as you try to compose yourself. You know there’s nothing more you can do other than avoid her and hope she goes away before any other member of the family stops in to check on you.
“Gail, please,” you begin as you stand up from the bed and retrieve your boxers and your shorts from the table.
“Just go—”
“Wait. Shut up,” she barks. “Did you just hear that?”
Your head snaps up and finds her staring back at you. Her eyes are wide and her head leans toward the door that leads to the hallway on the second floor of the house. She’s right. There are footsteps coming your way.
“Dammit...” you groan under your breath and immediately set off racing for the bathroom door on the opposite side of the room.
“Gail?” A voice calls out. “Gail, are you in there?”
A fresh sheet of sweat flushes your entire body. It’s her father, the Reverend Coates.
“Gail!” You seethe, keeping your voice just above a whisper. “We were never together here.”
She looks back at you and smirks, letting her eyes drop to your bare backside.
“I think he’ll be the judge of that.”
“You goddamn—”
The handle on the bedroom door begins to turn and you make a quick exit into the bathroom before whoever it is on the other side enters the room.
